Planting Seeds of Self Love just before Valentines Arrives!

If you’d ask David, he might jest that I’m a serial plant killer. That’s not entirely accurate, but until recently, I struggled to keep any indoor plants alive. Why? Because I often forgot to water them consistently. But let me share the story.

When we moved to our lake house in May, I had a lovely vase that I wanted to put in my bedroom with a unique and beautiful plant. However, after being away for a week, I returned to find all the leaves dried up.

I decided to replant mint or lavender to keep the room fragrant. I took the pot with only soil in it, added some water and left it near the sink. The soil was so dry so I kept adding water a few times but completely forgot to plant the new herb.

What happened next surprised me. This morning, I discovered three beautiful flowers emerging from the same pot that I had thought was doomed.

So what is the lesson here?

  1. Stop being so ״judgy״ and hard on yourself.
  1. Am I really not consistent? I have been studying, practicing and teaching yoga for over 2 decades – isn’t that very consistent?
  1. Start looking at your weaknesses, as what they really are: a strength in a fetal position, waiting to grow up and thrive in your life!

And now for the humorous twist!

Sometimes, someone might step in to help without us even realizing it – like having a son who secretly plants the herb for you! LOL!
